Donald Joseph Badger of Canandaigua, NY, passed away July 10, 2026, at the age of ninety-two. He was attended at the time of his death by his loving wife of thirty-six years, Judith Badger, at the Light Hill Home in Canandaigua. 

Donald was born at Ravenswood Hospital, Chicago, IL, on November 16, 1933, to Benjamin Joseph Badger and Dorothy Elizabeth (Baker) Badger. He had two sisters, Virginia Elizabeth Hatton, deceased, and Katherine MacDowell, still residing in Pittsford, NY. He had 6 beloved nieces and nephews: Samantha Roberts, Edward (Myra) Hatton, Susan (Roger) Ballance, Andrew (Andrea) MacDowell, Benjamin (Richele) MacDowell, Peter (Jason Wieland) MacDowell. 

He graduated from Austin High School in Chicago in 1951. After high school, he worked at a lithographing company in Chicago until enlisting in the US Army where he served in Active Duty in the Signal Corp. for two years. During this time, he married Grace Kenney, to whom he was married for thirty-three years and with whom he had two sons, Steven (Shannon) and William (Marianne). Don used his military training in civilian life as an electronics technician. He enlisted in the US Navy Reserve and was called up for Active Duty in the US Navy for 1 year. He worked nights while supporting his family to get a Bachelor’s Degree at Elmhurst College in 1974. After returning to civilian life, he worked as a production control manager until retiring. 

He got remarried in 1990 in Fairport, NY, to Judith (Owen) Badger. She brought her three adult children, of whom he was very fond, into his life: Terri Sevor (David), Timothy Adams (deceased), and Tadd Adams (Karen). Between them, they had five children, seventeen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Among his loving relatives who will miss him are Judith’s sisters Barbara Kaido and Diane Owen-Durand. 

His Christian life was always very important to him, and he was active at Risen Christ Lutheran in Fairport and Risen Savior Lutheran in Chandler, AZ. In the last weeks of his life, while making sure that all the details of life would be taken care of for Judi, he made sure to tell his grandson, Thomas Adams, that God was good and everything would be all right. 

Judith remembered that his greatest characteristic was that he always helped everyone around him. 

A memorial service will be held at Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 1000 Moseley Rd., Fairport, NY at 11:00 on Saturday, August 8, 2026. A reception will follow in the lobby.
