IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis Anthony
Pirozzi
July 6, 1935 – March 14, 2026
Louis Anthony Pirozzi, 90, died peacefully in his Canandaigua, N.Y., home on March 14, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born July 6, 1935, in Geneva, N.Y., Lou grew up in various upstate cities. He graduated from Bowling Green University in Ohio and later earned a master’s degree from SUNY Cortland. He served as a sergeant in the Army Reserves and was called to active duty in the early 60s. He dedicated his career to teaching high school business subjects and driver education. He also ran Marcus Whitman Central School District’s adult education program for many years.
Lou’s children and wife, Kathryn (Katie), will forever cherish the dozens of trips when Lou hitched up the travel trailer and navigated all over the country, from the Badlands to Disney World to Yellowstone National Park and every historical site and tourist trap in between. He and Katie traveled the world and enjoyed spending colder months with their friends in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A talented musician, Lou could pick up any instrument and play it by ear. Much to his surprise, he found his accordion playing often requested. He led a big band, the Kampus Kats, throughout college. He made wine – which won top prizes annually at the New York State Fair. He learned Morse code for his ham radio license, remembered directions to every place he ever visited, and loved to share his knowledge of history.
Perhaps more than anything else, Lou loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Katie Pirozzi; daughters, Karen (David Guistina) and Elaine (Austin Nichols), son Tom (Anne), granddaughters, Elsa and Cecilia, and his brothers, Bob (Jean) and Bill.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nancy and Louis, his brother Dick, sister-in-law Diane, and his cat, Dizzy, whom he truly loved, even if he pretended to merely tolerate her.
A Funeral Mass will be offered, 11 AM, Thursday, April 9, at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY, 14424. To be followed by a reception at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Light Hill (Canandaigua Comfort Care Home) at 5160 Parrish Street Extension, Canandaigua, NY 14424 or the University of Rochester Medicine Hospice program at 2180 Empire Blvd, Webster, N.Y. 14580.
