Marylou Allen, 80, a devout Christian from Palmyra, NY, returned to God in Rochester, NY on February 7, 2026. She was born in Hornell, NY in 1945 to William and Helen Welch, and would eventually be one of twelve children. Marylou was a devoted Christian who cherished the teachings of Christ and her special bible that was given to her by her mother, Helen. In her later years, Marylou attended church virtually at the Canisteo Wesleyan Church, as well as in person when she was able. She always took solace in knowing the Lord was watching over her and her family.
One of her favorite bible verses was Matthew 7:16 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you find; knock, and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened.” How fitting a verse for someone who rarely asked to receive and yet was always giving.
Marylou is preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen, as well as 6 of her siblings, who she will meet again in Heaven. She is survived by her four sons, Steve (Martha) Allen, William (Kim) Allen, James (Rebecca) Allen, and Philip Allen; her grandchildren, Bethany (Christian) Kolanski, Jamie Allen, Kayla Allen, Jaren (Danielle) Allen, and Karina Allen; as well as her siblings, Nancy (Lyle) Comfort, Margaret Loucks, Stella Woodworth, Rose (Harold) Perry, Gene (Wendy) Welch, and Jim Welch. Not to be left out, her precious chocolate lab, Elvis. All of whom Marylou loved, cherished, and fretted over with all of her heart.
Calling hours will be held from 10-11am on Friday March 27, 2026, at the Canisteo Wesleyan Church, 25 Greenwood St., Canisteo, NY 14823. A service will start immediately after at 11am. A lunch will follow at the church as well.
