Sandra "Sandy" Kay Hilderman beloved mother, grandmother, sister and cherished friend and confidante to countless others, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2026 at the age of 82.  She was born March 23, 1944, in Glendale California to Victor Hilderman and Jean Burns.

Sandra graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1962 and went on to earn her certificate as a dental assistant.  Guided by her passion for helping others and the principles of Bill W., she later entered the field of recovery, where she worked for 22 years at hospitals throughout the country.  Her dedication and commitment touched innumerable lives, offering hope and healing to those in need.

A woman of profound and unwavering faith, Sandra faced life's challenges with strength, resilience, and wisdom.  These qualities inspired her to spearhead the creation of St. Monica's Home for Women in Lincoln, Nebraska.  For more than 63 years, the home has supported women during difficult periods in their lives.  Sandra embodied a life of purpose, compassion, and dedication in this endeavor, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to offer sanctuary to women on their paths to rebuilding their lives.

Sandra is survived by her daughter Michelle Machuhovsky, grandsons Robert Amico, Nicholas and Christopher Lathrop, and her sister Linda Bawcom.  She was preceded by her daughter Sharon Amico.
