IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shane Alan
Loncosky, Sr.
December 12, 1960 – April 9, 2025
Shane Alan Loncosky Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, at the age of 64, in the comfort of his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family; cared for with love, dignity, and unwavering devotion.
Born on December 12, 1960, Shane was a man whose life centered around his love for his family. His first and only love was his wife, Cynthia, whom he cherished deeply throughout their life together. He was a devoted father to Shane Alan and Jessica, loving them fiercely and standing as their constant source of support. It was his grandchildren, Finley, Archer, and Mason who became the very beat of his heart. He adored them unashamedly, spoke of them often, and looked forward with great anticipation to every moment he could spend with them.
Shane spent much of his life pursuing the passions that brought him peace and joy -hunting, fishing, and the quiet beauty of the outdoors. These were more than hobbies to him; they were a way of life, and a legacy he lovingly passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was a natural storyteller, especially when the tales came from time spent in the woods or on the water. His stories, often told with humor and vivid detail, were as much a part of him as the calloused hands that held a fishing rod, shotgun or guitar. Music was another thread that wove through his life. He loved to sing and play his guitar and could often be heard humming a tune or tapping his foot along to a favorite song. His joy in music was quiet but ever-present, like a melody always nearby.
Known for his honesty, Shane was never one to mince words, he was quick with the truth, even if it came without polish. But under his gruff demeanor was a generous and deeply loyal soul. He would bare his heart to anyone who asked with sincerity, and he could always be counted on. If you visited the Loncosky home more than once, you were no longer a guest, you were family. Shane's career wasn't defined by a single title, but by the pride he took in every job he held. Whether working in a shop, maintaining a facility, or doing hard labor, he approached his work with integrity and dedication. He believed in doing things right and taking pride in a job well done, no matter what the role.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Loncosky; his children, Jessica Loncosky and Shane Alan Loncosky Jr. (Beth); his grandchildren, Finley Loncosky, Archer Loncosky, and Mason Waterstraat; his father, Ardell Loncosky; his brother, Ardie Loncosky (June); his sister, Laurie Loncosky (Terry Busby); in addition to many extended family members and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Loncosky, and his two children, Cody and Colleen Loncosky, who passed shortly after childbirth.
Shane will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the love he gave, strong, unwavering, and full of heart. To those who knew him best, he was the tall oak tree: steady, rooted, and always there. He stood firm through every storm, offering strength, shelter, and quiet grace to those around him. His legacy will continue in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he leaves behind.
In lieu of formal services, the family welcomes anyone who wishes to send flowers or cards to the family home: 2732 Kingdom Road, Waterloo, NY 13165, addressed to Cindy. Shane would want his memory honored through the things he loved most- time spent outdoors. Take a child fishing, walk quietly through the woods, share a story by the water - and in doing so, carry forward the legacy of a man who found peace, purpose, and joy in nature.
