Obituary

Steve was born on January 4th, 1967, and left us on December 23rd, 2025. He is originally from Victor, NY.

With heavy hearts, we remember a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose life was centered on love, laughter, and family. He was a man who truly knew how to live and celebrate life, cherishing every moment spent with those he loved most.

Family was his greatest joy. He loved bringing everyone together, whether it was around a campfire, at a family gathering, or simply sharing stories and laughter. Camping, hunting, and racing were among his favorite pastimes, and he especially enjoyed sharing those passions with family and friends.

He was known for his quick wit and sharp comebacks, always ready with a perfectly timed reply that left the room filled with laughter. His sense of humor was one of his greatest gifts—effortless, genuine, and unforgettable.

A hardworking provider, he took great pride in caring for his family. Behind his strong work ethic was a sensitive and compassionate soul, always willing to lend a hand or offer support to anyone in need. He had a deep love for his dogs and a true appreciation for living life to the fullest.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shelley; his sons, (predeceased) Keith (Kara) Scherbyn, Justin (Brittney) Sepi, Jason Disessa, and Kody (Kasadie) Dailey; stepson, Lucas Haak; and stepdaughter, Caitlyn (Kyle) Carney. He was also a proud grandfather to Kane Myers, Lila Sepi, Kane Scherbyn, Collin Disessa, Keegan Mott, Remi Mckee, and Bennett Carney. He is also survived by his sisters, Sue (Roger) Tilton and Becky (John) Castellano; and his brothers, James Dailey and David (Vicki) Dailey. He was a cherished uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will forever carry his love, laughter, and lessons in their hearts.

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the strong family bonds he worked so hard to create.

There will be a celebration of life at the Canandaigua Moose Lodge on Saturday, January 24th at 1 o'clock.

In honor of his memory Steve's choice of donation is Hospice of Ontario/Yates County. Our family will be forever grateful for the way the team cared for our loved one.
